What Alexis Diaz unleashes on the world can at least be called iconic. His large imaginative drawings are packed with detail. Before starting his Ostend work, Alexis Diaz went to the city museum to find inspiration. In one of the books he found the old coat of arms of the city and the story of the three keys. With that myth in mind, Diaz designed a new coat of arms for Ostend, including mermaid, gull and whales. 
 
This artwork was originally located in the Kapellestraat, but was given a new place on the Oosteroever in 2020.

Wat Alexis Diaz op de wereld loslaat is op zijn minst iconisch te noemen. Zijn grote fantasierijke tekeningen zitten boordevol detail. Voor hij aan zijn Oostends werk begon, trok Alexis Diaz naar het stadsmuseum om inspiratie op te doen. In een van de boeken vond hij het oude wapenschild van de stad en het verhaal van de drie sleutels. Met die mythe in het achterhoofd ontwierp Diaz een nieuw wapenschild voor Oostende, inclusief zeemeermin, meeuw en walvissen.

Dit kunstwerk stond oorspronkelijk in de Kapellestraat, maar kreeg in 2020 een nieuwe plaats op Oosteroever.
