Wildebeest

Even though Brazil is bursting with beautiful nature, the economic hardness is increasingly forcing people to move to the cities. Fearful that man would lose his connection with nature, Mateus Bailon began to paint colorful and vibrant flowers, fish, birds and mammals in the city. He bases his work on Japanese art, comics, folklore and other street art. Mateus Bailon is also praised for his studio work, where color is even more dominant.

Mateus came to Ostend with his girlfriend and fellow street artist Paola Delfín. They did the preparation of her gigantic mural together, but she did the finishing work solo. This way Paola could continue to paint in her own style. And Mateus, who went into Ostend's streets for his own work of art. Again, those beautifully detailed animals: two wildebeest, with a seagull as an Ostend touch.

Ook al barst Brazilië uit van de prachtige natuur, de economische hardheid dwingt mensen steeds meer om naar de steden te verhuizen. Uit schrik dat de mens zo zijn connectie met de natuur zou verliezen, begon Mateus Bailon kleurrijke en levendige bloemen, vissen, vogels en zoogdieren te schilderen in de stad. Hij baseert zich daarvoor op Japanse kunst, comics, folklore en andere street art. Mateus Bailon wordt ook geroemd om zijn studiowerk, waar kleur nog dominanter aanwezig is.

Mateus kwam met zijn vriendin en collega street artist Paola Delfín naar Oostende. Ze deden samen de voorbereiding van haar gigantisch grote mural, maar de afwerking deed ze solo. Zo kon Paola helemaal in haar eigen stijl blijven schilderen. En Mateus, die trok de Oostendse straten in voor een eigen kunstwerk. Ook hier die prachtig gedetailleerde dieren: twee gnoes, met een zeemeeuw als Oostendse toets.
